Modeling of Power Amplifier Nonlinearities Using Volterra Series

چکیده
Radio Frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) are one of the most important elements in radio telecommunication facilities, which are used to amplify the power of input signals. At the same time, they gradually become the bottleneck for modern telecommunication systems due to the confliction between the linearity and the efficiency, resulting in their relatively high level energy consumption. Volterra kernels are naturally good representations of intermodulation and harmonic distortions, the main distortions in typical power devices, because of their convolutional structures. Some work has been done to model the distortions by using Volterra series. However, Volterra series expansions are usually truncated severely, due to complexity of computation, so that they do not give accurate representations of the original system. It is intended ultimately to apply a timeinvariant, discrete-time Volterra series method in the modelling of RF power amplifiers to assess distortion levels to eliminate or reduce them. Owing to our limited computational facilities, the experimental PA in this preliminary work is only excited in a moderate frequency range, 100Hz to 1kHz. Copyright c © 2005 IFAC

Nonlinear Analysis of a Power Amplifier inc C Band and Load Pull Technique Calculation USING VOLTERRA SERIES
In recent years, nonlinear circuit analysis techniques have been extensively investigated. One of the most important reasons is the application development of solid-state devices at microwave frequencies. Different methods have been used to analysis large signal behavior of these devices. In this paper load-pull curves (one of design requirement) are obtained using Volterra series. The main adv...
متن کاملCompensation of amplifier nonlinearities on wavelet packet division multiplexing
Wavelet packet division multiplexing (WPDM) is a high-capacity, flexible and robust orthogonal multiplexing scheme in which the message signals are waveform coded onto wavelet packet basis functions for transmission. However, WPDM suffers from severe performance degradation in the presence of high-power amplifier (HPA) nonlinearities. In this paper, data predistortion using the pth-order Volter...

Modern modulation methods as used in 3rd generation mobile communications (UMTS) generate strongly fluctuating transmission signal envelopes with high peak-to-average power ratios. These properties result in significant distortion due to the nonlinear behavior of the radio-frequency power amplifier (RF PA). We propose different nonlinear model structures for such amplifiers, based on memory pol...

The baseband Volterra–Parafac model is a useful tool to represent a nonlinear communication channel with a parametric complexity reduced with respect to the full Volterra model. In this paper we include additional symmetry properties of real power amplifier kernels in the equivalent baseband Volterra-Parafac approach in order to gain a further reduction in the number of parameters. To illustrat...
متن کاملNonlinear Modeling and Analysis on Concurrent Amplification of Dual-Band Gaussian Signals
In the recently developed Flexible Wireless System (FWS), the same platform needs to deal with different wireless systems. This increases nonlinear distortion in its wideband power amplifier (PA) because the PA needs to concurrently amplify multi-band signals. By taking higher harmonics as well as interand cross-modulation distortion into consideration, we have developed a method to analyticall...
